What quality of yours makes you best suited for what you do?

I’ve always enjoyed numbers, to the point of creating math equations for everyday situations just to pass the time. This aptitude for numbers has aided me when completing various billing tasks that I handle on a daily basis. Between reconciling data from different spreadsheets to generating equations to total up various amounts, my odd quirk of casually creating math problems turned out to being one of my most useful strengths.

What is the most challenging part of your role?

Before Dowling & Yahnke, I thought myself a fairly organized person with a knack for multitasking, but the daily administrative challenges passed my way have put those skills to the test like never before. It’s a huge accomplishment when I do get my inbox, filing cabinet, and procedures cleaned up and sorted. However, the next quarterly reporting cycle rapidly rolls through, and the whole process starts anew.

What is your favorite spot in San Diego?

I love visiting Coronado Beach, right out front of the Hotel del Coronado. The water is warm, the sun hits the beach perfectly from midday on, and the stretch of sand is long enough to easily find a spot to camp out. The bonfires and fireworks at night are a nice touch.

What is your most treasured family tradition?

My most treasured family tradition is Christmas morning. No matter where my parents or the kids are in the world throughout the year, the one rule is that we must wake up at my parent’s house Christmas morning. There was a time when my flight was delayed, and I wasn’t back home until 3am Christmas day. My mom had dinner prepared for me and a bed made up so that I could still, technically, wake up at home Christmas morning.

What brought you to San Diego?

My life was getting a bit stagnant before I moved to San Diego, and I knew I needed a change. I already had friends and family living down here, so it was an easy decision to make the move. The perfect weather and the beaches are an added bonus.
