What do you find most rewarding about working at Dowling & Yahnke?
Getting to work with extremely intelligent, trustworthy, and passionate people that care about the success of our clients and the success of each other. The D&Y family culture makes it easy to work with each other and collaborate to improve the client experience.
Why did you join Dowling & Yahnke?
Back in 2007, I was looking for an employer that was best in class that could provide excellent training with plenty of opportunity to grow with the firm. My role has evolved from client services to portfolio management where I’m now a voting member of the Investment Committee.
Which hobby are you most passionate about?
Over the Line – It’s a unique three on three team sport that’s a mix between cricket and beach softball. It’s been played on the beaches of San Diego for over 70 years. It is best known for the annual OMBAC World Over-The-Line Championships played on Fiesta Island where over 1,400 teams compete to become world champions.
What personal accomplishments are you most proud of?
Earning my Chartered Financial Analyst designation. It was by far the hardest thing I have ever accomplished in my academic and professional career.
What is your personal motto or mantra?
I have two:
Be anxious for nothing and grateful for all things.
Be calm and confident.
I recently came across these two while listening to the podcast titled: “Finding Mastery: Conversations with Michael Gervais”. He interviewed the UCLA women’s gymnastics head coach Valorie Kondos Field and her story was filled with challenges and unique perspectives that made me realize that everyone goes through tough times, but it’s a matter of how we choose to feel and respond in those circumstances that makes all the difference in our lives.
