Mark E. Dowling, CFA, CFP®
Founding Partner
Mark holds the designations Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®), and has a Master's Degree in Business, Finance (MBA) from San Diego State University. He completed his undergraduate work at San Diego State University with a degree in Industrial Arts. Mark has taught financial planning and investments at the adult education, community college, and university levels. He has been instrumental in the development and review of competency tests for financial planning professional organizations.
Mark is a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), the Financial Planning Association (FPA), the CFA Society of San Diego, Inc., and the CFA Institute. He is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Coastal Community Foundation. Mark has worked on committees for the Board of Examiners of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards to develop and maintain the comprehensive examination required of all CFP candidates. Mark was born and raised in Southern California, is married, and has two children. -
Dale E. Yahnke, CFA, CFP®
Founding Partner
Dale holds the designations Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®), and has a Master's Degree in Business, Finance (MBA) from San Diego State University. Dale completed his undergraduate work at Claremont McKenna College with a degree in Economics. For the third consecutive year, Dale was listed as one of Barron's Top 100 Independent Financial Advisers. He was the only adviser in San Diego to be so recognized. Prior to Dowling & Yahnke, Dale worked for six years as a financial analyst with the law firm of Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich (now known as DLA Piper US LLP). He has served as an expert witness in investment and securities related matters.
Dale is actively engaged in the community. He has served on the Board of Trustees for Voices for Children, Kids Included Together, and the Planned Giving Committee at the University of California, San Diego. He is a member of the CFA Society of San Diego, Inc. and the CFA Institute. He has been a member of the Children's Hospital Planned Giving Board, the San Diego Estate Planning Council, and the La Jolla Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Section. For more than ten years, Dale served as Treasurer on the Board of Trustees for the San Diego Museum of Man. Currently, he is Treasurer on the Board of Trustees for the Junior Seau Foundation. Dale is a native of San Diego, living in Carmel Valley with his wife and two children. -
Paul R.Temby, CFA, CFP®
Partner
Paul joined Dowling & Yahnke in 1998 and became a Partner in the firm in 2005. He holds the designations Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®), Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA), and has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with an emphasis in Finance from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. In addition, Paul holds a Graduate Diploma in International Business Administration from the Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium and a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Magna Cum Laude & Phi Beta Kappa) from the University of California, San Diego.
Paul is a member of the Scripps Health Gift Planning Advisory Boards, the San Diego Foundation's Professional Advisor Council, the Financial Planning Association (FPA), the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of San Diego, Inc., and is a past President of the La Jolla Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Section. Paul is a California native, but has enjoyed living in many parts of Europe. He is married and has two children. -
William G. Beamer, CFA, CFP®
Partner
Will joined Dowling & Yahnke in 2002 and became a Partner in the firm in 2007. He holds the designations Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®), and has a Master in Business Administration (MBA) degree from Harvard Business School. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University, where he majored in History and graduated with honors. Will's prior experience includes nearly three years with Bain & Company, a management consulting firm in Boston. Prior to business school, Will spent four years in the U.S. Navy Pacific Fleet as a surface warfare officer on a Spruance-class destroyer.
Will serves on the Board of Directors and chairs the Finance and Investment Committees at Senior Community Centers, a non-profit agency which provides critical services for poverty-stricken seniors. Will is also a member of the CFA Institute, the Financial Planning Association (FPA), the CFA Society of San Diego, Inc., La Jolla Golden Triangle Rotary Club, the La Jolla Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Section, the Harvard Business School Alumni Club of San Diego, and the Duke Club of San Diego. A San Diego native, Will lives in Carmel Valley with his wife and their four children. -
ALANA C. ASMUSSEN, CFA, CFP®

Alana joined Dowling & Yahnke in 1995 and has been a key participant in the development of the firm. She holds the designations Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®), and has a Master's Degree in Business, Financial Planning (MS) from San Diego State University. She completed her undergraduate work at the University of Iowa with a Bachelor's Degree in Business and Economics.
Alana is a member of the CFA Institute, the Estate Planning Council of San Diego, and is a past President of the CFA Society of San Diego, Inc. She is active in P.E.O., a women's philanthropic, educational organization. Along with being involved in the community, Alana is an avid world traveler. Born and raised in Iowa, Alana moved to San Diego in 1992. -
Jacqueline A. Bell, CFA, CFP®
Portfolio Manager
Jacqueline holds the designations Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®), and has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in History and Science. Jacqueline joined Dowling & Yahnke in 2007. She has twenty years of experience in investment management, including ten years managing a global equity mutual fund for Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (now BlackRock, Inc.).
Jacqueline is a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of San Diego, Inc., the Financial Planning Association (FPA), the Harvard Club of San Diego, and the San Diego Women's Foundation. She also serves as Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the Bird Rock Community Council. Born and raised in Jamaica, Jacqueline enjoys living in La Jolla. -
Peter R. Gordon
Portfolio Manager
Peter has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with an emphasis in Finance from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and is a Level II candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program. Peter earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations, also at the University of Pennsylvania. After experiences at Morgan Stanley and Trust Company of the West in Los Angeles, Peter co-founded an executive consulting firm in Boston which focused on private equity and venture capital clients.
Peter is an active member of the Wharton Club of Southern California, the Wharton Club of San Diego, the Penn Club of Los Angeles, and the United Jewish Federation of San Diego County. A Southern California native, Peter and his wife are happy to be living in San Diego. -
Racquel Kolsrud, CFP®
Portfolio Manager
Racquel holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation and completed her undergraduate work at the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. Prior to joining Dowling & Yahnke, Racquel worked at Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. for ten years in various client facing roles, most recently as a Financial Consultant managing investments for over 400 clients.
Racquel is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA). She is actively involved as a member of the Surfrider Foundation, San Diego Chapter, and the USA Triathlon Organization (USAT). Racquel also servers on the Board of Directors of the Women's Resource Center. She is passionately committed to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through Team in Training, raising substantial funding for this cause. Racquel spends much of her time training and competing in triathlons. Born and raised in Arizona, Racquel moved to San Diego in 2003. -
Mark J. Muñoz

Mark joined Dowling & Yahnke in 2009 and oversees the firm’s administration, financial management, operations, and compliance matters. He earned a Master in Business Administration from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Science degree from Miami University (Ohio), where he majored in Finance and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Mark has extensive and diverse experience in operations leadership including ten years managing capital markets businesses for Bankers Trust, Lehman Brothers, and Bank of America in the U.S. and overseas. Prior to Dowling & Yahnke, he was co-founder, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Financial Officer for two industry-leading wireless technology companies.
Mark was born and raised in Ohio and moved to La Jolla in 1999 where he lives with his wife and two children. Mark is a member of the University of Chicago Alumni Club of San Diego and volunteers for various charitable and school activities. -
Karrol Gibbs, CFP®
Operations Manager
Karrol holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation and has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ambassador College in Big Sandy, Texas. Karrol came to Dowling & Yahnke after ten years with Somerset Financial Services, a financial consulting firm in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her client service experience, as well as her operations background in a variety of positions has afforded her many opportunities in the financial services industry. She is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA).
Karrol is a third generation Californian and enjoys living close to her children and grandchildren.
