Will joined Dowling & Yahnke in 2002 and became a Partner in the firm in 2007. In addition to advising clients, Will serves as the firm’s Chief Investment Officer, overseeing all investment- and trading-related operations. Will holds the designations Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®), and has a Master in Business Administration (MBA) degree from Harvard Business School. He attended Duke University on a four-year Navy ROTC scholarship. At Duke, Will earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in History and graduating with honors. Will’s prior experience includes nearly three years with Bain & Company, a management consulting firm in Boston. Prior to business school, Will spent four years in the U.S. Navy Pacific Fleet as a surface warfare officer on a Spruance-class destroyer.
Will is a 2011 graduate of the LEAD IMPACT San Diego program. For six years (2004-2010), he served on the Board of Directors at Senior Community Centers of San Diego, a non-profit agency which provides critical services for poverty-stricken seniors, and he still serves on the agency’s Finance and Investment Committees. Will currently serves on the Board of Directors of Scripps Mercy Hospital Foundation, and is a member of the Investment Committee at the Zoological Society of San Diego, and the Audit Committee at Francis Parker School. He is a member of the CFA Institute, the Financial Planning Association (FPA), the CFA Society of San Diego, Inc., La Jolla Golden Triangle Rotary Club, the La Jolla Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Section, the Harvard Business School Alumni Club of San Diego, and the Duke Club of San Diego. A San Diego native, Will lives in Carmel Valley with his wife and their four children.
